FAQ > Fish > Do fish jump out?
Fish are a hot topic. All experienced reef hobbyists know you are taking a risk with Wrasse and that great Long Nose Hawk in a reef tank. They are notorious jumpers, you'll find them in your overflows and occasionally in your sump, then you wonder "how did he get there?" So to answer that, yes, some fish are not recommended in an opened top tank that has overflowing water. Our experience with ZeroEdge Aquarium is not new ... we've been working on this project since 2003 and have tried many different fish in our systems. The fish we do recommend and have had great success are as follows: Tangs, Dwarf Angels, Rabbits, Cardinals, Clowns and Damsels. We do not recommend putting too many Damsels together as they are considered a rough crowd and someone is going over. However the Chromis is a Damsel that will do well in our larger systems.
The ZeroEdge Aquarium featured in our video has been running for about 2 years with a good variety of fish in it without problem. The owner had some problems early on with Mandarin fish and tank raised false clowns, such as ocellaris and percula. However, if you are inclined to have clownfish you can have Saddle, Cinnamon, Clarki, Seabay and Tomato Clowns in a ZeroEdge Aquarium.
